However, shortly after he became accepted as an adult, the tribe was forced to bend the knee and serve a tyrant, Tyrghizan. In a state of outrage Curhiskh challenged Tyrghizan’s right to rule. Tyrghizan suggested that they fight to the death to determine who should rule, but tricked Curhiskh by choosing Varhiskh, Curhiskh’s father, as his champion. Curhiskh was no match for his father and was soon defeated. Though Varhiskh wanted to ensure the safety of his tribe, neither did he wish to slay his own son. So Curhiskh was exiled and travelled to the human settlement of Torlagn on the edge of his tribe’s ancestral territory. There he hired himself out as a bodyguard and mercenary. After a time he became a member of the K'Temmen military. During a major battle against Argalia he distinguished himself and was elevated to the personal bodygard of the Duke of Torlagn. This did not last long as he slew the Duke's steward in a fit of rage. As punishment he was assigned to the Torlagn Marines, a regiment commanded by veterans and filled with troublemakers and misfits. He dreams that one day he shall return to his tribe and depose Tyrghizan. For now he hones his skills, ensuring that he shall be up to the task.
